Simple Recipes for Diabetic Diet
Diabetic diet is no different from what everyone else is eating, only healthier. There is no such thing as special foods or rigid meal plan for people who have this disease.
Diabetic diet recipes consist of nourishing, balanced meals, served in regular proportions, and eaten at regular times everyday.
The recipes should revolve on the fact that what the diabetic person will take should help improve his or her health; while at the same time control the blood’s glucose levels.
If you are planning to prepare diabetic meals, include foods high in fiber and protein and low in fat. Be extra careful with sugar (carbohydrates) and sweets since these cause fluctuations in the blood’s sugar levels.
There are two types of carbohydrates: simple and complex.
Simple sugars, like fruit juice, milk, honey, table sugar, ice cream, and maple syrup, are easily digested and absorbed by the body. The complex ones are found in whole grains, starchy vegetables, and legumes. They take longer to digest, and thus keep your blood sugar level stable.

Since carbohydrates have big impact in your glucose, you have to balance your carbohydrate intake with the rest of your menu. Instead of white rice, opt for brown rice; whole-grain bread instead of white bread; sweet potatoes instead of white potatoes. Include veggies in your meal; vegetables should make up its largest part. Replace soda and juice with water.
Healthy complex carbohydrates must be included in your food choices including whole grains, vegetables, fruits, legumes, and non to low fat dairy products.
Take note that these are high in fiber which will help in your digestion.
Always remember that fiber in you diet is always ideal especially if you are a type 2 diabetic. Because this will dramatically decrease any healthy risks of heart disease as well as maintaining glucose sugar levels. An ideal daily balance intake is 30 grams.
